White and Gold Winter Tablescape Inspiration

Winter is the best time for a classic white and gold table setting and this tablescape will surely inspire you to create your own white and gold winter tablescape! This table setting idea is perfect for winter bridal parties, wedding receptions, and winter birthday parties!

Celebrating with a White and Gold Tablescape

I celebrated my birthday last weekend and my sweet sister threw me a small intimate dinner party featuring a beautiful white and gold winter tablescape! Though this was my birthday table, this setting has ton of inspiration that could be used in a bridal shower or wedding. The thing that I absolutely love to do on my birthday is to be able to enjoy one of my favorite creative hobbies. This usually entails taking a floral design or a calligraphy workshop.

Even though the person that throws you the party typically does the decorating, I wanted to decorate my own dinner table as my creative activity. I’ve been daydreaming of creating this table for awhile and boy did it feel good to make it come to life.

Plating Your White and Gold Winter Tablescape

I first fell in love with this Lenox Artemis Accent plate, with it’s design and metallic finish. I thought it just screamed celebration. Can you believe it can go in the dishwasher.

You also know of my love of layering patterns so when I saw this block print tablecloth with a metallic finish from Katherine Young Home, I also fell in love. I knew they were meant to be together on my table.

Can you see how the organic pattern on the plate and the tablecloth mimic each other?

The secret to a pleasant mix is finding similarities in patterns and working with their scale. The eye loves similarity and repetition.

Playing with Patterns on Your Winter Tablescape

My general rule for working with pattern is to start with the bigger pattern first (typically the tablecloth) then layer the medium sized pattern this is typically the plate and the smaller pattern on the napkin.

On this white and gold winter table I followed this rule, the tablecloth has the larger design with the plate’s smaller design sitting on top. It’s also good to separate patterns with a non competing layer like a solid colored placemat, charger or even a napkin so that each pattern gets to have its moment.

Selecting the Florals for your White and Gold Winter Table Setting

I wanted to give a nod to winter by using florals in white and light green tones. Florals and greenery that also had tons of textures so I used some of my favorites.

The centerpiece was created using white hydrangeas, white scabiosas, green calla lilies, white roses, The greenery was seeded eucalyptus and dusty Miller. The black scabiosas were purposefully used to add a punch of dark unexpected color that tied in with the black seals on the table. These are all long lasting florals, if they are kept well hydrated I’m on day 10 and most of the arrangement is still alive.

Elegant White and Gold Tablescape Details

Add the Ying to the Yang.

I added a bit of a contemporary elements to traditional, organic and feminine patterns add interest. This was represented by the modern shape of the place card. It’s actually a thank you card that I wrote my friends name on with Calligraphy.

If you have been following me for a while you know I have a thing for peacocks. I also have been dying to play around with wax seals, it goes hand in hand with my love of calligraphy. I just thought that my birthday had to have a representation of my obsession with this bird In a unique and interesting way. I loved making these peacock wax seals in black.

Again one of the signature elements on many of my tables is adding ribbon,  but I wanted to do something different than using a bow. So, I  cut short pieces of the ribbon, added fish tails on both sides and it became the backdrop for my wax seals. I really think they added a bit of softness and sophistication to the white and gold winter tablescape.
