How to Create a Lemon Topiary
Step 1: Prepare Your Materials
Start by gathering your fresh lemons and bamboo sticks. Make sure that the lemons are firm and unblemished for the best visual impact. Next, arrange your small open-mouth vase in a central spot where you plan to display your topiary.
Step 2: Assemble the Lemon Layers
Begin constructing your topiary by threading a bamboo stick through the center of two lemons, stacking them vertically. Repeat this process to create three separate sets of two lemons each and move the lemons closer together each time. Once you have your three lemon stacks, place them in the vase, largest to smallest. For a balanced and aesthetically pleasing look, position them at slight angles, criss crossing them.
Step 3: Top It Off and Add Greens
To complete the topiary, take a single lemon and secure it on top of the assembled stacks. This will give your arrangement a polished finish. Finally, fill in the gaps between the lemons with Italian Ruscus leaves. These delicate, lush greens add texture and a natural touch. Gently tuck the leaves into the spaces until the vase looks full and lush.
