Stephanie's Red Wine Sangria

Easy to make red wine sangria with fruit that is the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle dry red wine a Spanish red or cabernet works beautifully
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 green apple cored and diced
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup Sprite or lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 cup prosecco or sparkling wine

Method

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, and orange juice.
  2. Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved.
  3. Add the sliced fruit and stir again. Let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  4. Just before serving, add the Sprite and prosecco for that perfect sparkling finish.
  5. Pour into glasses filled with ice and garnish with an extra citrus slice if you like.

Notes

To make a sangria party easier, make it a self serve bar!
  • Prepare the fruit ahead of time by slicing your choices (like oranges, apples, berries, or peaches)
  • Bathe the cut fruit in a little lemon juice to help prevent browning
  • For a small party, portion the fruit into individual glasses and place them next to the pitcher of sangria so guests can pour their drink over the fruit
  • For a large party, set out a bowl or platter of fruit next to the sangria along with empty glasses
  • Add a small note encouraging guests to fill their glass with fruit first, then top with sangria
