Chinoiserie Fall Tablescape Idea: Bright Colored Fall Themed Table Setting

Chinoiserie themed tablescapes are taking over the table decor space and I am not mad about it at all! Chinoiserie table settings are put together with hopes of representing Chinese and East Asian culture, which I think this Chinoiserie Fall tablescape covers quite well! A Chinoiserie Fall tablescape includes bold colors, delicate patterns, Chinese figures and romantic florals and this table has it all!

You are in for a treat because I’m not only sharing inspiration for this table but in the process sharing some of my favorite women owned vintage stores, make sure to tap on links to get to know who they are and the items they carry.

What Makes a Chinoiserie Chic Table Setting?

Are you obsessed with Chinoiserie themed tablescapes yet? I have been a big fan of the traditional blue and white Chinoiserie table settings for a while, but when I had the idea to create a Fall inspired Chinoiserie fall table setting, I just knew I had to go with it!

What makes a truly wonderful Chinoiserie chic table setting is it’s bold, exciting, and maximalist vibe. As you can see in the images included in this post, you’ll see just how I brought those things to life.

As mentioned above, Chinoiserie table settings are made up of delicate patterns, Chinese figures and romantic florals. I made sure to tie in each of those inside of this Chinoiserie Fall tablescape by choosing tableware that was full of delicate patterns and textures, decorating the table with antique Chinese figures, and completing the table with a beautiful fall themed floral centerpiece.

Why Choose a Chinoiserie Tablescape for Fall?

Fall is a great time to bring out the Chinoiserie style! This table is perfect for a ladies brunch, lunch or early dinner soiree this Fall. It’s colors give a nod to early Fall but are still help to give a feminine touch to the table.

The beauty of living in the south is that the early Fall brings us some of our most comfortable temps, perfect for alfresco entertaining. Thus this table was set outdoors in my back porch. This table would look just as beautiful inside of your home as well!

What Makes this Chinoiserie Fall Tablescape So Special?

I would have to say that what makes this particular Chinoiserie Fall tablescape so special are its pieces that are acquired from small woman owned vintage stores! I purchased the rose medallion plates included on this table from two of my favorite vintage stores Pender and Peony and RueDeFlorenceDesign . I chose to also include cabbage plates from Bordello Pinheiro. These two plate styles have their own bit of history.

Choosing Chinoiserie Tableware with History

The delicately patterned plates are called Rose Medallion and they have quite a wonderful story behind them. Rose Medallion is a Chinese pattern developed in the 19th century. The Rose Medallion pattern falls into the Famille Rose pattern family (otherwise known as the Rose Family).

“The Rose family is a French term applied to Chinese enamel decorated porcelains first produced in the early 18th century that utilized the newly introduced pink or rose colored enamel along with a palette of enamels in green, blue, aubergine, and yellow.”Pender and Peony.

Tie in the Beautiful Patterns of Chinoiserie with some Cabbage Tableware

After deciding on the Rose Medallion patterned plates, I decided to further the Chinoiserie feel by adding some colored texture to the table with these Bordello Cabbage plates.

Cabbage-ware has decorated Southern tables for years. After getting popular in England, it made its way to the US as a staple in the 1960’s. “Portuguese pottery house Bordallo Pinheiro has churned out the recognizable cabbage- and lettuce-shaped forms since 1884 and remains a popular choice.” – Southern Living.

Where can you find these magnificent pieces? You can find them in a variety of places; from Saks to Wayfair and antique stores! I recommend going antiquing and see what you’re able to find!

Decorating Your Chinoiserie Fall Tablescape

When putting this Chinoiserie Fall  tablescape together, I knew I needed to find napkins, glassware, and details that accented the Rose Medallion patterned plates and I think I nailed it! I played off the green of the Bordello Cabbage plates and the painted colors of the Rose Medallion to pick the green colored glassware and the pink of the linens.

The block print table cloth, added a floral pattern to the table and added a bit of casualness and approachability to this elegant setting.

Delicate Fall Florals for a Chinoiserie Fall Table Setting

I had to make sure the floral arrangement centerpiece on this table, not only complimented my bright color scheme but also included Fall colors. I did this by using antique hydrangeas as my base and added zinnias, mums, roses and garden roses for this arrangement. The colors of the flowers maroons, golds, burnt orange were a nod to the early Fall season and worked well with the color scheme of the tablescape.

Cocktail Recommendation for this Fall Themed Tablescape:

I think a fun pink cocktail would go well with this Chinoiserie tablescape, and with that, I think my Strawberry French 75 Cocktail would pair quite well!
