Three Limoncello cocktails

When I think of Limoncello, I quickly get transported to my introduction to this liqueur. I got introduced to Limoncello on one of my trips to Italy during my visit to the beautiful island of Capri. Surrounded by crystal blue water and luscious green hills, I sat outdoors at a restaurant table and held a colorful hand-painted shot glass and sipped on Limoncello for the first time.

I enjoyed its sweet-tart flavor and realized that Limoncello is one of the most popular liqueurs in Italy.  This liqueur is great to drink by itself or added to a cocktail. With ingredients like lemon rinds, vodka, and sugar, you can make your own Limoncello. If you want to try your hand at making your own homemade Limoncello click here.

Sage Limoncello Martini

When I think of elegant cocktails, one of the first ones that come to mind is a martini. I planned an Italian themed dinner party and my first thought was that a  Limoncello martini would fit the bill for the sophisticated night I was envisioning. This sage Limoncello martini has the added bonus of having a botanical twist with the addition of a bit of sage. This three-ingredient recipe is quick and easy. If you have Limoncello, vodka, fresh lemon juice, and sage for garnish you are set to go. The more the sage soaks in the martini the more it infuses it with its flavor.  For the Sage Limoncello Martini recipe click here.

Elderflower Limoncello Prosecco

This cocktail has two of my favorite ingredients when it comes to making cocktails, Elderflower liquor, and Prosecco. Who doesn’t love a cocktail with bubbles! The addition of Limoncello adds a lemony note to this cocktail and raspberries (whether fresh or frozen) make a festive garnish. This drink would be great to start a celebratory night or even used as a signature holiday cocktail. For the recipe for the Elderflower Limoncello Prosecco Cocktail press here.

Limoncello Whiskey Sour

Along with the martini, this whiskey sour was on the shortlist for my Italian inspired dinner party. I thought it would be an interesting mix to taste the sweetness of the Limoncello with the warmth of the whiskey. This recipe also adds lemon juice and club soda which makes for a refreshing finish.
