What is a Living Floral Centerpiece?

A “living centerpiece” is essentially a centerpiece that is comprised of fresh, living florals. Unlike cut florals that last an average of a week,  you can enjoy these for a greater length of time. Poinsettias are a common living floral for winter living centerpieces.

Directions:

  1. Line container with the plastic liner so the both and sides are protected. For extra protection for your container you could also wrap each plant’s pot with plastic too.
  2. Plan the positioning of your plants. In this design I put the poinsettias and the snapdragons in the middle and used the Norfolk Island pine as greenery that added texture to the edges of the arrangement and helped to hide any of the plastic from the bags.
  3. If the plants all fit in their original containers in your desired design then go ahead and start putting them in place in the container. I am adding poinsettas to the middle of the silver vase.
  4. Title the flowers of fluff pine to fill in the holes. I decided to add snap dragon to the center of the arrangement and then some Norfolk pine to the edge of the arrangement.
  5. When it’s time to water the plants, use your finger to test the dryness of the soil and water each plant as needed. Each plant’s longevity is different but the beauty of this arrangement is that you can easily replace parts of it and still continue to enjoy its beauty.

& there you have it! A super easy way to create your own living floral centerpiece for winter. Now comes the time to set the perfect winter tablescape.
